Two centuries ago, long before events could be replayed so readily on videotape or DVD, life's milestones were recorded by limners. These largely self-taught portraitists traveled from village to village in search of subjects, or set up studios in early America's growing young cities.

I welcome the opportunity to create a portrait for you in the style of these naive painters of the 18th and 19th century. However, I will not travel to your home on horseback. Instead, I will require some good photographs of the subject, preferrably a professional photo. Face forward or three quarters works best. If another element is desired in the portrait, such as a pet or toy, I will require a photo of that as well. All materials will be returned to you. You will be notified after receipt of your order as to the estimated delivery date. I will contact you upon receiving your order as confirmation and also to discuss your expectations of the painting including expected date of completion.
